OSMOSE (METU)
The spatio-temporal OSMOSE (Shin and Cury, 2001) model of the Black Sea includes 8 species: European anchovy (Engraulis encrasicolus), European sprat (Sprattus sprattus), Atlantic horse mackerel (Trachurus mediterraneus), bonito (Sarda sarda), bluefish (Pomatomus saltator), turbot (Psetta maxima maeotica), whiting (Merlangius merlangus) and red mullet (Mullus barbatus). The model has horizontal (2D) spatial dimension and has a 4-km resolution. The migratory species, anchovy, bonito and bluefish, have prescribed migrations. Bonito and bluefish migrate to the Marmara Sea in early fall and then back to the Black Sea in late spring for spawning during the summer season. The 0+ age groups of bluefish and bonito do not migrate and stay in the BLack Sea the whole year round. Anchovy carries out migration to the northwestern shelf for spawning in summer and migrates back to the southern Black Sea for wintering. The Black Sea OSMOSE model is one-way and offline coupled to the LTL model of the Black Sea for the representation of resources; i.e. plankton and detritus, for the fish species. The model is set up for the initial conditions of 2000 and validated for the 2000-2020 period.- Publication Date
